BN Logistics Officer (Battalion S-4)

The S-4 is responsible for the Battalion Commander for the maintenance, security, record keeping, issue, and turn-in of all US government property (except ordinance).  Under the supervision of the Instructor Staff, the logistics officer determines supply requirements maintains a running inventory of property; requisitions, procures, and stores supplies; and collects and disposes of excess and salvage equipment and clothing.
 

The S-4 specific duties and responsibilities:

1.  Creating and ensuring a JROTC Clothing and Equipment Record is documented for each Cadet. JROTC Clothing and Equipment Records are located in the second file cabinet located near the office door.
 
2.  Maintaining accountability of all equipment and supplies used by the Battalion on inventory sheets kept in the S-4 Binder.
 
3.  Maintaining the record of all logistics and supply actions on JUMS and updating whenever new equipment comes in.
 
4.  Updating cadet records on JUMS when they are issued a uniform; ensuring cadet records are up-to-date on JUMS at all times.
 
5.  Maintaining the record of all new equipment that comes in on the Document Registry located in the S-4 folder on the S-5 flash drive; printing out updated copies of the Document Registry periodically to be kept in white binder located on bookshelf.
 
6.  Determining supply requirements and preparing requisitions for equipment and supplies required for the Cadet Battalion.
 
7.  Maintaining the supply room as functional,
neat and orderly.
 
8.  Maintaining security of all items of clothing and equipment in the supply room and other storage areas in coordination with the S-2.
 
9.  Conducting periodic inventories of the on-hand supplies and equipment; submitting periodic inventory reports to the Instructor Staff on the availability of supplies and on the condition of the equipment.
 
10.  Issuing and collecting clothing, equipment, and other supply items as directed by the Battalion Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, or Instructor Staff.
 
11.  Issuing missing clothing items to cadets after payment for replacement is collected.
 
12.  Collecting and disposing of excess salvage equipment and clothing.
 
13.  Supervising the activities of the Property Book Officer (AI).
 
14.  Performing other duties as assigned by the Battalion Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, or Instructor Staff.
 
15.  Coordinating logistical movements as requested by Team Commanders, or other recognized requests.
 
16.  Preparing awards for fall and spring award ceremonies through coordination with the S-1.
